LG washing machines show short alphanumeric codes (OE, IE, UE, dE, LE and similar). OE and IE are the most commonly reported by owners; the meanings are shared across LG front-loader lines.
| Code | Meaning | Severity | First action |
|---|---|---|---|
| OE | Drain fault | Often fixable at home | The machine could not drain within the expected time — water is left in the drum. |
| IE | Water inlet fault | Often fixable at home | The machine is not filling, or is filling too slowly — an inlet valve or water-supply problem. |
| UE | Unbalanced load | Engineer usually needed | The load cannot be balanced, so the final spin has been reduced or skipped. |
| dE | Door fault | Often fixable at home | The door is not detected as closed, so the programme will not start. |
| LE | Motor lock / overload | Often fixable at home | On LG washing machines (unlike some other brands) LE means the motor was forced to stop or overloaded — often a mechanical jam or motor fault. |
Safety first
Unplug before any check. Never open panels beyond the filter flap. Anything involving internal wiring, the heater or gas must go to a professional — see each code page for its "call a professional when" line.
